In the end, the litte boy throws in the towel, and accepts all this in the only way he could. But as we all know, we are not responsible for other people's actions, we don't take credit for other people's good deads, and as his sister stressed, it is not our fault when others do ugly things. He considers it to be in some way, his duty to fix him. The whole story-line shows us that he does feel extremely responsible for the monster. By feeding the monster his sister and a bunch of booze, he relinquishes all resposibility. So instead of finding a magical way to stomp out the monster, he accepts his father for the abusive alcoholic he is. The little boy is cured, or more appropriately, healed by accepting that there is simply nothing he can do to change his father for the better. The story progresses in a way that shows us that though there is no technical cure for the monstrousity that is his dad, there is, more importantly, a cure for HIM. This is because it just reinforces the desperate attemp the little boy was making to find a "cure" for his father. PLEASE This is available drm-free at humble store.
